Stylish Fabric Lace Skirt

I’ve teamed up with Stylish Fabric to create monthly sewing inspiration and tutorials using their fashion fabrics. For this project, I knew I wanted to use some of their gorgeous lace! You can see their amazing variety of different lace fabrics here.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Stylish Fabric. The opinions and text are all mine.

I ended up falling for this beautiful Guipure White Venice Lace Fabric. This fabric features a scalloped edge and 2 1/2 inch wide embroidered flowers with an open weave. I paired it with this Silky Satin Chiffon, you might remember the ruffled tops I created with this fabric a few months back.

I was so excited when I finally got both of these fabrics in the mail. They arrived just as I was leaving for a two-week trip and it nearly killed me to leave them sitting on my sewing table for all that time. I just wanted to dive right in! The Guipure lace is even more beautiful in person and it has such a wonderful weight to it.

To me, a white lace skirt is the epitome of summer style! I find I’m always drawn to white in the summer and this fabric is definitely a stunner! I like to look for inspiration for my sewing on Anthropologie.

Here’s the skirt that inspired me originally. It was over $300 and I knew I could create something similar for a fraction of the price. My version ended up with a gathered waist because I wanted a bit more fullness to the skirt, but it still has the fitted waistband and the scalloped hem.

Isn’t this lace just dreamy?

The lining fabric I used for this skirt is just a shade darker than the lace to give the design a bit of depth. It’s hard to tell in these photos since the sun was so bright during our photoshoot.

I used this Gathered Skirt Tutorial to create this skirt. The only change I made to the tutorial was to add a lining to the skirt and use french seams.

It’s a fairly easy skirt to make and a great way to get your feet wet if you haven’t sewn with lace before.

For the top, I used Simplicity 8601 view B and I paired it with a Rifle Paper Co. Amalfi print. It has such a beautiful sleeve option!

I love how this outfit turned out and I can’t wait to plan a fun summer date night to wear it on!

You can recreate this skirt using this Guipure White Venice Lace Fabric and this Silky Satin Chiffon from Stylish Fabric.
